About the Project

Welcome to our platform, where we are driven by a profound commitment to addressing the multifaceted challenges posed by environmental issues, particularly the complex and often devastating phenomenon of landslides. Our mission is grounded in the belief that to effectively tackle these challenges, we must embrace a holistic, evidence-based approach that amalgamates indigenous, local, and scientific knowledge systems. As articulated by Tengo et al. (2014), we firmly endorse the idea that these diverse knowledge systems hold the potential to yield novel insights and innovative solutions when thoughtfully combined. At the heart of our endeavor lies a dedication to advancing the collection, dissemination, and critical examination of data related to landslides.
Through exhaustive literature searches and rigorous research endeavors, we aim to push the boundaries of knowledge in this domain. Moreover, we are committed to fostering a community of information sharing and knowledge dissemination, encouraging informed responses and local policy discussions regarding landslide-related concerns. Our vision is underscored by the creation of accessible, reliable, and centralized mechanisms for data sharing and exchange, thereby empowering local governments, communities, and individuals in their quest for landslide preparedness and mitigation. With a physical resource center, an online database, and ongoing research into indigenous soil stabilization practices and resilience narratives, we are charting a comprehensive path toward a more sustainable and resilient future in the face of environmental challenges. Join us in this transformative journey as we collectively work towards safeguarding our planet and its communities.

Objectives

Promote the importance of approaching complex environmental challenges from a multiple evidencebased framework whereby “indigenous, local and scientific knowledge systems ... are viewed to generate new insights and innovations through complementarities” (Tengo, et. al., 2014).

Advance knowledge collection, knowledge dissemination and critique of data on landslides by leading the search for related literature and materials and by conducting research

Facilitate information sharing and knowledge dissemination on landslide through a collaborative pooling of data to encourage an informed community response as well as local policy discussions on landslide-related concerns.

Provide an accessible, reliable and centralized mechanism of data sharing and exchange that is useful for local government planning and decision making as well as local community awareness on landslide preparedness and mitigation.

Support capacity building of local government units, communities, and other interested parties by conducting lectures and by facilitating landslide management training activities.
